Location: Mitchell, SD

At today's Dakotafest gubernatorial forum, Democratic candidate Susan Wismer delivered a commanding performance. She discussed her top priority if elected governor and laid out clear policy solutions to expand Medicaid, improve infrastructure, fund education for the long-term, and improve economic development in South Dakota.

"The Governor sets the tone on education in South Dakota, and that tone from Pierre needs to change. He can't pay lip service to schools and then cut their budgets," Wismer said at the forum, answering a question about education funding.

Wismer, a small business owner and member of the State House of Representatives from Britton, also talked about the need to expand Medicaid and seeking a balanced perspective by involving both parties in discussions to best address issues facing the state.

The next gubernatorial debate is the Farmers Union Debate at the State Fair on Friday, August 29.
